The Dutch Committee for Afghanistan (DCA?VET) is a Dutch international NGO, working in the animal health sector in Afghanistan since 1988. DCA?VET focuses on veterinary and directly related livestock activities. The mission statement runs as follows:
“Poverty reduction and increasing food security for the population of Afghanistan by improving the health and productivity of their livestock”
The main objective of DCA is to protect and improve the health of existing livestock and to increase livestock production in Afghanistan.
Tasks and repsonsibilities:
Under the responsibility of the Board of the Foundation Dutch Committee for Afghanistan – Veterinary Programmes represented by the Secretary General, both based in the Netherlands, and under supervision of the Executive Director (ED) of DCA VET in Afghanistan, the Deputy Director has the following tasks:
- Get acquainted with the DCA overall programme, and the various projects
- Familiarize with external stakeholders in order to represent the ED adequately when needed
- Support the ED in the management of the various projects within the DCA overall programme, with special attention to the RADP'N project
- Represent the ED in project meetings for RADP'N, and for other projects when requested
- Represent DCA at national coordination meetings on behalf of the ED when required
- Coordinate with project managers in the identification of consultants and review of reports produced by these consultants
- Review donor reports of the RADP'N projects and other projects when required (donor compliance management)
- Organisation of strategic inputs to reach an optimum linking, coordinating, and communicating between all projects with special attention to the RADP'N project, and in coordination with DCA Programme Management Unit
- Communicate on projects’ narrative and financial monitoring, in coordination with the relevant key staff in Kabul, to the Liason and Support office in Lelystad, the Netherlandswhere necessary
- Organise regular Core Management Meetings, and monitor perormance of action points
