Location:  Current and future projects in Africa. We are currently operating in Democratic Republic of Congo, Guinea, Nigeria and Senegal. Recently completed projects include those in Sierra Leone, Ghana, Burkina Faso, Tanzania and Liberia.

Duration: Fixed term positions, from 6 month to 1 year renewable, depending on requirements.

Start date: On-going recruitment and start dates.

Rotation: Most positions run on a rotation schedule; typically 6 weeks in the field/on project and 2 weeks home/on leave.

Reporting to the Project Director, the Project Manager will lead the design, development and implementation of the Resettlement Strategy and Resettlement Action Plan within the boundaries of rePlan’s and/or the project’s established methodology and protocols. He/she will be responsible for supervising a team of specialists for community consultations, livelihoods restoration and development, community or individual negotiations, the resettlement budget and the project schedule.

Education: An advanced degree (Master’s, equivalent of Master’s) in development, agriculture, environment, social science, law, planning, or related disciplines.

Experience:

  • Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years demonstrated project implementation experience in an emerging economy and experience managing diverse teams
  • CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) experience required: stakeholder engagement, social risk assessment and impact mitigation, sustainable social program implementation
  • Experience in developing and delivering stakeholder engagement strategies is required
  • Demonstrated success for on-the-ground experience of Involuntary Resettlement(s) is preferred
  • Resettlement experience in the context of extractive industry operations\
