United Kingdom: Campaign Director for Conflict and Fragile States

Sep 10, 2014 | Global Witness

Global Witness is an international organisation that investigates and campaigns to prevent natural resource-related conflict and corruption and associated environmental and human rights abuses. We collect irrefutable evidence through our investigations and combine it with our powerful advocacy to force change.

In order to ensure that it can continue to deliver high quality, effective and impactful campaigns, Global Witness has three campaigns directors heading up overseeing the organisation's work on corruption, conflict and environmental governance.

The purpose of these roles is to lead the relevant campaign teams and ensure that Global Witness delivers compelling advocacy and long term strategic change in these three areas.

We are recruiting for two vacancies, one Campaign Director to oversee our corruption work and one Campaign Director to oversee our Conflict & Fragile States work.

The Corruption Campaigns Director will be responsible for developing and driving long-term strategy for our work on ending corruption. This will involve investigations to expose corruption and relentless campaigning and advocacy to promote systemic change.  Areas of work include: getting companies to publish their payments to governments; tracking government money; promoting anti-corruption reforms both globally and locally; defending anti-bribery legislation and dealing with the proceeds of corruption, including anti-money laundering and tackling secrecy jurisdictions.

The Director of Conflict & Fragile States Campaigns will be responsible for developing and driving the strategy to expose and break the links between natural resource exploitation and conflict. This will involve advocacy, legal reform and fieldwork in some of the world's most fragile states such as Afghanistan, DRC, South Sudan.

Both roles require an extensive track record of advocacy achievement, detailed working knowledge of the international policy-making machinery and excellent management and communications skills.
