Nepal: Chief of Party

Chemonics seeks a chief of party for the five-year USAID/Nepal Feed the Future Knowledge-based Integrated Sustainable Agriculture and Nutrition II Project (KISAN II). KISAN II aims to substantially reduce poverty and hunger by improving agricultural productivity; strengthening the competitiveness, resilience, and inclusiveness of market systems; enhancing the enabling environment; increasing the resilience of vulnerable communities through business literacy; and applying collaboration, learning, and adaptation methodology to ensure flexible, results-driven programming. The chief of party will provide strategic leadership and manage activities and key stakeholders to ensure the project achieves its objectives and produces high-quality deliverables. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world. 

Responsibilities include: 

  • Ensure that results are achieved on schedule, resources are used effectively, staff perform at a high level, and partners meet their commitments 
  • Ensure compliance with USAID regulations and oversee the production of high-quality deliverables 
  • Take a leadership role coordinating with USAID, implementing partners, other donors, and key stakeholders 

Qualifications: 

  • Preferably master’s degree or higher in a relevant field such as agricultural economics marketing, agribusiness, or business administration
  • Minimum of seven years' experience (master's degree level) or 10 years' experience (bachelor's degree level) managing complex multi-value chain agricultural development programs with a private sector focus
  • Experience working on large projects that work directly with complex government systems and other multilateral donors
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with proven ability to productively interact with diverse stakeholders across levels (e.g., government, private sector, other projects, and NGOs)
  • Experience leading/supervising/coaching diverse teams on projects of a similar scale
  • Familiarity with Nepal's agricultural system, including key needs and opportunity areas in Feed the Future Zones of Influence 
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity 
  • Fluency in English required ​
