Senior Programme Officer - Environment, Climate Change and Security

We are looking for a Senior Programme Officer to join the Environment, Climate Change and Security (ECCS) strand in Alert’s Peacebuilding Issues Programme (PIP). You will work alongside the ECCS Project Manager and Programme Officer, supporting with the implementation of existing climate change and security project activities. A proportion of your time will be focused on new project development and collaborations with other thematic teams and regional programmes in International Alert (Alert). You will provide administrative support, financial and budget management and the management of programme officers, interns and volunteers as needed.
You must have at least 3 years proven experience of research, analysis and writing both academic and evidence-based advocacy material. In addition, you will be capable of translating good project ideas into fundable projects with clear change goals, and possess substantial knowledge about all three fields – climate, development, conflict – and their inter-linkages.
Educated to post-graduate degree level, you will manage financial expenditure with accuracy and oversight, in line with project budgets; have proven advocacy experience in either climate change, or development or the field of violent conflict and peacebuilding along with proven experience of generating policy recommendations.
Salary: £37,526 per annum, plus excellent benefits
Duration: 12 months (with a possibility of extension dependent on funding)
