Eco-Vital is a non-governmental, non-political and non-religious organization registered in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq since 2019 to address the environmental challenges the country and the world face. Due to decades of war and conflict, displacement, social and economic injustice, the miss-management of oil and other resources, and lack of adequate information and education among people, the environment in Iraq is in a poor state to say the least.

Eco-Vital was formed to help advocate for change while providing practical solutions at community level in terms of green economy (sustainable agriculture and other livelihood opportunities) as well as education and awareness and advocacy.

If you have passion and time to make a difference in people’s lives affected by war and conflict and want to support the sustainable development agenda in relation to the environment, then Eco-Vital is pleased to offer you the opportunity to practice your learning and gain grass roots approach to development.

If you are a fresh graduate or even a seasoned environment and development practitioner and want to help support a new grass roots organization concerned with environmental awareness raising, advocacy, research and improving the livelihoods of poor communities through a greener economy, then our organization welcomes you to help us make meaningful and lasting impact locally, regionally, and globally.

What is required from the applicants? As we are a newly established organization, we need your valuable support but you should:

  • Be able to pay for own return flight to Erbil, Iraq.
  • Be able to commit to work for at least 1month.
  • Have an undergraduate degree in environmental sciences, agriculture, business management, other social sciences or a mixture of high school certificate and practical related work experience.
  • Be able to speak good level of English language and computer literate.
  • Have good level of experience in IT and use of online platforms (website development, social media..etc). An eye for photography would also be an asset.
  • Be able to conceive and design project concepts, formulate work plans and write reports.
  • Have experience in green economy, behavior change communication and environmental education will be valuable.
  • Have knowledge or experience in conducting research, surveys and date analysis will be advantageous.
  • Be able to provide own accommodation/meals.

What does Eco-Vital provide to the Applicants?

  • Full on-boarding of applicants: induction on security, context, culture…etc
  • Support residency permit in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq beyond the granted 30 day tourist visa.
  • Field trips in the city and surrounding villages to gain understanding of people and practices.
  • Local transport
  • Basic health care support.
  • Office supplies.
