University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee
Beginning in Fall 2014, UWM will offer an interdisciplinary professional graduate degree program leading to a Master of Sustainable Peacebuilding (MSP). The program prepares students for careers in peacebuilding - e.g. international development, conflict resolution, and resource stewardship. The MSP curriculum is designed to develop student expertise in systems thinking, social-ecological interactions, and the application of these concepts to peacebuilding and development fields.
Program highlights:
- The MSP is trans-disciplinary — students learn from individuals working on complex global problems that require multi-faceted approaches, such as conflict and insecurity; environmental degradation; and poverty and disease.
- The MSP is hands-on — students conduct field work in regions such as Central America, East Africa, and the Balkans.
- The MSP is rooted in practice — students develop skills that can be used to address dynamic real world challenges.
